Rules of Play:

  • All matches will play a full third set in the event of split sets unless, before a match begins, all players agree to a 10 point super tiebreaker. This must be determined before play begins. If it is not discussed then a full 3rd set must be played in the event of split sets.

  • The 10 point super tiebreaker will switch sides after the first point and every four points after. Servers will serve on one side only. This is considered a new set, so teams can choose who serves first.

  • Set tie breakers will be 7 points and will switch after the first point and every four points after. This is the continuation of a set so players must serve on the side they were serving during the set.

  • All tournament play is eligible for a 2 hour time slot, if available. Approval and booking must go through the tennis chairs, Joanna or Kevin. These matches can be booked prior to the opening of the reservation system. If your match is not completed within the 2 hours and the court is booked in the next time slot, you must vacate the court at the end of the 2 hours.

  • After July 4th, tournament participants during Open Play can sign up on the Open Play Board no earlier than 10:30 (located on the patio). When the court becomes available, they have the right to the court until the match is completed. You must write “match” next to your names on the assigned court.

  • If you book your own courts for a tournament match, independent of the tennis chairs, you will not have priority past 1.5 hours. If your match goes over you will have to schedule another time to finish.

  • Foul language and rude behavior will not be tolerated. Anyone not displaying good sportsmanship will forfeit the match.

  • Play by dates are hard dates, meaning, if you do not play by that date, the match will be decided by the flip of a coin.

  • Each team or player must be available to schedule for at least 2 weeks within the time frame allotted to play.

  • Play by dates will not be extended for injury but can be extended for illness or family emergencies. This must be approved by the Tennis Chairs before the play-by date.

  • Requests for line judges for any tournament match will be accommodated if possible.

  • All quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be played on Court 1 when possible.

  • All matches will allow a 10 minute warm up before play.

  • The following penalties apply for all matches from agreed start time:

10 Minutes late, forfeit the warm up and toss

20 minutes late, forfeit three games

30 minutes late, forfeit a set

40 minutes late, forfeit the match
